• Shouldn't you be on Minecraft.net right now?

    Hey!

This blog is no longer the go-to place for official Minecraft news! From now on we’ll be posting snapshots, updates, and lots, lots more on Minecraft.net.

Minecraft.net! Bookmark it! Make it your homepage!

Why have we done this? Learn that and more on Minecraft.net!

Note: we’ll still use this blog for any Mojang news that’s not relevant to Minecraft. There’s not a lot of that about right now but thought it was worth mentioning.

    Thanks!

  • Fight in a fort or toss a tuber

Ah, Friday. For many, this signals the start of two free days to kick back and play their favorite games. To help you out with that, we’ve put some new maps on Minecraft Realms for PC, and have brought back some old favorites as well. Whether you’d like to quietly admire new builds by yourself, or frenetically compete with a group of friends, we’ve got something for everyone!

    Hot Potato by Team Cryus

Gather your friends and grab a potato! Hot Potato is the kind of sport where you don’t want to be left holding the ball. Keep your eyes peeled for any agitators rushing you with a spud, and if you get hit, mash your mouse until you pass it off to someone else. These are exploding tubers, so toss them before they detonate!

    Vaslen by Excessed

If you’d like to start a new survival game, but don’t want to stress over building up your farms, fire up this world template. In Vaslen, you’ll find a green mesa and five cozy shacks. Just be careful, this map starts at night!

    Fort Craft by goCreative

Zombies gather to attack, beginning their approach to your fort. The narrow canyon walls make it difficult for the creatures to move in groups, and from your perch in the guard tower, you line up the perfect shot. With a quiver of arrows and a bit of luck, the sun will be up before the monsters reach you.

    Other additions

We have another round of 1.11 compatibility updates for you! If you haven’t played these before, give them a try. This week, the following maps make their return to Realms:

We also have a special mention, for anyone that didn’t catch the Light Your Way Home blog post. The map, aptly titled Light Your Way Home, is part of the #MinecraftIRL campaign, designed to blur the lines between the real world and the crafted world. You can grab this map on Realms, under the adventure map category.

    Winter is… on the way

Our next Realms content update, appropriately winter and/or holiday themed, is on December 16th! Make sure that you check in on that day for another blog post filled with all of the details.

If you’re curious about how to get your own creations on Minecraft Realms, check out our updated guidelines over at /r/Realms.

That’s all for now! See you next time!

  • Share your real-life Minecraft moments!

    Hey!

Minecraft can be a funny old game. Over the years, crafters have uncovered a wealth of secrets, and developed a bunch of unique ways to play. Dirt block towers, pigs with saddles, chests packed with mushroom stew - over time, these things have become almost… normal.

  • Bop a buddy or journey through jungles

Welcome back, Minecrafters, to another Friday of PC Realms maps! Based on last week’s numbers, loads of you went nuts for A Giant Quest! We had fun stomping around and staring down the dragon as well.

Let’s get into this week’s maps!

    Makers Punch by MineMakers Team

Makers Punch was a natural choice for inclusion on Realms. It was a fun and error-free minigame from the start, and it reminded us of the fan favorite, Knockback Madness, seasoned with design elements from MineMakers Team’s Makers Spleef. The goal of knocking your enemies flying off the platform is simple, but learning the jumps and items will give you an advantage as you and your friends play this game over and over.

  • Be a bear, or duel a dragon!

Surprise! If you’re a Realms subscriber on the PC edition of Minecraft, you’ve got some new content today. Releasing a bunch of Halloween experiences last week caused some build-up in the launch tubes, and so we already have four snazzy, new maps for you to dig into.

    Let’s get started!

A Giant Quest by Team Wooloo

When a dragon shows up to extort your village for gold, there’s only one thing you can do: get huge and wreck everything! A Giant Quest is a short single-player adventure that plays with your sense of scale in some surprising ways, then afterward, allows you to create your own village in that same world.

  • Haunted holidays and creepy candies

With Halloween just around the corner, we asked community mapmakers if they were working on anything particularly Halloween-ish, and they replied with a resounding, “Yes!” This is the biggest Realms map release so far, with seven total upcoming experiences. Read on to find out more about each map!

Herobrine’s Mansion by Hypixel and Xiantis

Originally published three years ago, Herobrine’s Mansion was one of the first adventure maps to make extensive use of command blocks. Players face off against the devious Herobrine, but you can only reach him once you defeat his minions. Now, with some updated mechanics and a fresh coat of paint, this faithful recreation of Herobrine’s Mansion is ready for you and your friends!

  • Add-Ons! Sponges! Pocket / Win 10 gets the Boss Update

Wet sponges - I’ve recently discovered that babies like to suck on them, which is kinda gross to be honest. But let’s not worry about that for now. Minecraft: Pocket Edition and the Windows 10 Edition beta are being updated to 0.16 today, bringing loads of new features, most of which are not in the slightest bit soggy.

  • Realms Map Round-Up: Pandas, Puzzles and Egyptian Elytra

    Brave Adventurers!

This week, we have FOUR new maps for you. They’ll let you soar across ancient ruins, saddle up sturdy panda steeds, clamber through the jungle canopy and ponder brain-bending puzzles. Mildly interested? We can work with that.

Our first addition is a great Capture the Flag game where you use elytra wings to fly into your enemy’s base. Let’s get into it!

  • Add-Ons ahoy! Boss Update coming October 18

Not only does the Boss Update for Pocket and Windows 10 bring some much awaited mobs - the Elder Guardian can now be found in the sprawling, mysterious Ocean Monuments, and the Wither appears in revamped fighting form - there are loads of big technical tweaks besides. It’s boss in every sense!

The biggest news is that this update will see the first implementation of Add-Ons. You’ll hear even more about Add-Ons tomorrow if you tune into Searge and Jason Major’s talk at 3.30pm PST, but here’s the low-down: Add-Ons are the first step on our journey towards bringing even greater levels of customisation to all editions of Minecraft - starting with Pocket and Windows 10.
